On 14 May 2005 at 07.08 (local time), an Ecureuil/AStar AS 350 B3, series (registration number F-WQEX ) with test pilot Didier Delsalle at the controls, set down at 8,850 metres (29,035 ft) on the summit of Mount Everest (Kingdom of Nepal), shattering the world record for high altitude takeoff and landing. This helicopter, registration number F-HMGM, is now a member of the French company CHALLENGE S.A.S. fleet, based at GAP-TALLARD airport.
