AIRBUS A380 LUFTHANSA SERIE 180
AIRBUS A380 LUFTHANSA
Developed under license and in narrow collaboration with AIRBUS and LUFTHANSA GmBh.
In spite of the big number of details and pieces, and the size of the model, the assembly will be easy and the livery "LUFHANSA " simple to achieve.
At present, four planes have conducted their inaugural flight, in a different order from their construction order. The fourth (MSN 004 F-WWDD) took to the air on 18 October 2005, and was the first to carry out the welcome and maintenance tests on line at Frankfurt Airport on 29 October. The third (MSN 003 F-WWSA) flew in November of the same year and the seventh (MSN 007 F-WWSD) in February 2006.
The A380's working visit to Frankfurt was devoted to important tests for the aircraft's future deployment. At Lufthansa's central hub the aircraft was put through its paces in real-life conditions. Tests included docking at the terminal as well as catering, MRO (maintenance, repair, and operating supplies) and refuelling.
With the introduction of the summer timetable at the end of March 2008, four A380s will join the Lufthansa fleet , and Lufthansa will be the first European carrier to deploy the new super-Airbus in scheduled service. Lufthansa is purchasing a total of 15 A380s, all of which will be based at Frankfurt.
The introduction of the Airbus A380 will marks a new dimension in long-haul aviation. Lufthansa will seat up to 555 passengers in a three-class configuration on this new, wide-bodied aircraft and carry them speedily and safely to their destination. Lufthansa has already decided to introduce its new First Class on the A380.
