TORNADO GR.4/4A
Strictly exact, classic model kit of a big classical author in his details and its decoration scheme.
Only HELLER proposes the first decoration scheme.
Proposed with complete and detailed weaponry.
Very rich and particularly spectacular decals sheet. Simple painting scheme.
The GR4, a modernised version of the Tornado GR1, was introduced into the RAF from October 1997. Under a 1 billion-pound programme to extend its operating life (MLU: Mid-Life Upgrade) signed with British Aerospace in 1989, 142 Tornado GR1s will receive modernised avionics and controls, a FLIR system housed in a second fairing under the forward section (requiring the second gun to be removed), a terrain-following system, instruments compatible with night-vision binoculars and a wide-angle head-up display. This modernisation draws lessons from the first Gulf war and enables the introduction of ammunition that until now was only accessible to GR 1 sub-families (including missiles such as the Sea Eagle anti-ship, ALARM anti-radar or air-to-ground Storm Shadow). Thirty of these aircraft, known as GR.4A, have been optimised for reconnaissance. Currently only the Luftwaffe seems to be following the RAF with an similar programme called "Neue Avionikstruktur" (new avionic structure) allowing the integration of weapons such as the future Taurus missile. The GR 4 made its combat debut during the Telic operation, the British part of Operation Freedom in Irak, launched on 19 March 2003, with 18 aircraft from II(AC), IX(B), XIII and 31 squadrons and 12 from 617 squadron.
