The "Occident" model reconstructs the types of steamers have taken during the first Atlantic crossings. The "Occident" can be considered as the twin brother of Sirius who made famous in 1838 under the command of Lieutenant R. Roberts, the first crossing from London to New York in eighteen and a half days. This type of boat was designed for a small number of passengers, about 90, as their naval career was short-lived.
